Admin,

I have been keeping a record since the topic on unreliability was deleted.

(All times are GMT.)

December 27, 2007

System was down between 10.30 and 13.50, with the following message:

“Warning: mysql_connect(): Too many connections in /home/hsphere/local/home/wwwuser/support.myfreebulletinboard.com/db/mysql4.php on line 48 Warning: mysql_error(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL-Link resource in /home/hsphere/local/home/wwwuser/support.myfreebulletinboard.com/db/mysql4.php on line 330 Warning: mysql_errno(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL-Link resource in /home/hsphere/local/home/wwwuser/support.myfreebulletinboard.com/db/mysql4.php on line 331 phpBB : Critical Error

Could not connect to the database.”

Then response times around 10 seconds till around 19.00.

January 1st, 2008

Response times 10 seconds or more.

January 2nd, 2008

Response times 10 seconds or more

January 3rd, 2008.

Response times around 10 seconds all day, until system went down at 17.30, with error message:

“Warning: mysql_connect(): Can't connect to MySQL server on '63.247.74.86' (4) in /home/hsphere/local/home/wwwuser/support.myfreebulletinboard.com/db/mysql4.php on line 48 Warning: mysql_error(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL-Link resource in /home/hsphere/local/home/wwwuser/support.myfreebulletinboard.com/db/mysql4.php on line 330 Warning: mysql_errno(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL-Link resource in /home/hsphere/local/home/wwwuser/support.myfreebulletinboard.com/db/mysql4.php on line 331 phpBB : Critical Error

Could not connect to the database.”

January 8th, 2008

System down from 01.00 till 02.00.

January 9th, 2008

System down between 10.45 and 15.40.

(And before you ask, I do check other Internet sites whenever this one is having problems. This is to make sure it’s not my PC or ISP at fault.)

Would you care to comment on this state of affairs? How do you square this with the claims on your home page about reliability and speed?

How can I attract new members while this is going on? One bad experience, and they never come back.

What forum is yours? It would help to know what server you are on.

For Admin’s benefit…

January 11th, 2008

System down between 11.30 till 17.05, then down again from 19.00 till 02.30, with error message:

Unable to connect to database on '63.247.74.86' with user 'wwwuser_mfbb'
Please check your settings in multiforums.config.inc.php!

Trying to access the Support board at 22.00 produced the following message:

Warning: mysql_connect(): User wwwuser_ipbmain has already more than 'max_user_connections' active connections in /home/hsphere/local/home/wwwuser/support.myfreebulletinboard.com/db/mysql4.php on line 48 Warning: mysql_error(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL-Link resource in /home/hsphere/local/home/wwwuser/support.myfreebulletinboard.com/db/mysql4.php on line 330 Warning: mysql_errno(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL-Link resource in /home/hsphere/local/home/wwwuser/support.myfreebulletinboard.com/db/mysql4.php on line 331 phpBB : Critical Error

I am reporting the SAME trouble. I also emailed admin@myfreebulletinboard.com and webmaster@myfreebulletinboard.com BOTH emails were instantly returned. Now, was this because the entire mfbb site was out of order? If so, I still say we admins should have a way of alerting the admin here when our boards are down. I seriously doubt our admin is sitting in front of his/her PC 24/7 watching this board or the entire mfbb.com site for outages.

BTW, what exactly was the reason for this recent trouble?

It sure would help to know that once WE get complaints or we see our boards down that we have a valid and working way to report the trouble to OUR admin. Can't another email be created for this sole purpose admin?

Furthermore, why is it that my board is not viewable, I can see the members online list, access the ACP but NO ONE can post or view any forum? They get the message posted by bryan above-the longer one.

What is happening and will this be fixed ASAP? I agree with bryan that one bad experience and new folks migrate elsewhere. Not to mention those members that I "thought" were regulars. I have recd emails from them saying they spent the better part of the Thursday and Friday trying to get to my site. They have told me they are now done trying and will only check in every so often. Now what can I do to get them back?

I can not afford to have anymore members jump ship.

My board's short URL: notlong.yourcoupons.com

My forum is now working fine as of 1/14/08 5:25 pm ET.

I have lost my sleep over a possible database corruption following the recent outage (11-12 Jan 2008) which seems to have occurred in my case only.

My board address is - http://www.mfipb.com/index.php?mforum=ignoumca

The homepage is appearing alright. But when I click on any forum I get SQL error messages which says -

Quote:
mySQL error: Table 'ignoumca_posts' is marked as crashed and should be repaired

This table seems to contain all the posts and a corruption means all of last 2 years work will be lost. Sad

Forum outage is one thing but this error has really shaken me.

Admin please do something quickly. Shocked

Confusedabit: This is rather worrying. Did you get an "Out-of-office reply" or a delivery failure? Where did you get the "admin@etc" address from?

I have a phpBB board too in a separate server and it rarely goes down. All the problems happen in the mfipb server with IPB boards. My mfipb forum has been down since last outage and never recovered in-between because it seems to have a table corruption problem too. Its time that admin does something about it.

It's time that admin does something about it.

Agreed. But I don't think she works weekends. We'll have to wait till the USA wakes up on Monday morning. Sad
