In adminCP,under group masks,in the admin mask there is the option to allow to edit own topics, which is disabled, what does that actually do?

Its disabled by default yet if I go to the first post I make in a topic I can edit it and edit the topic title and description, so its confusing me what this option does! Embarassed

OP, I assume you have an IPB board since the majority of your other posts here are regarding that type of board.

If so, I can not see on my AdminCP the specific heading you mentioned. However, if you go to ACP, Users and Groups (on the left), Manage User Groups (on the left too), then under Admin hit EDIT GROUP (towards the right), scroll down to the following question:

Can edit own topic title & description? YES or NO

I have mine set to YES. Perhaps, as the ADMIN, you are also the SUPER ADMIN that over-rides any and all settings? As sch, you should also be able to edit ALL posts for anyone including the titles as well.

Do you have the option set the same for ALL groups?

Don't know if I shed any light on our question though!

My guess would be that the user group is also a super moderator or that the ID is a moderator in the catagory the post has been made under. If you created another mask (like 'members') set it up the way you want without that option turned on, no super moderator, and then created a new userid in the member group, you would get what you want. Don't change yourself since you would then lose the ability to get back to the admin group.
