Hi Mr. Admin.

I am having trouble with a certain A-Hole who has made it his mission to run ruff-shot over my board. I have banned a number of IP addresses he posts from but he seems to have access to a number of them. As a result, he continues to register under new names and conitues his reign of A-Holedness!! Rolling Eyes

Is there anyway to stop him? I have changed my registeration process from "none" to "admin" and that has worked to a certain degree...now he just posts new member names that are rude and mean!

Let me know if there is anything that can be done about this...THANKS!! Cool

This guy is member name "Sledneck"...I have deleted some of his other alias's but his original is still in my memberlist!

Welcome to the realities of running a successful forum.

You are doing most of what I would do to stop him.

On any forum I run I set registration to user so the user must validate that they have a correct email address. You can use the email address help track and to get them in trouble with their isp.

What you can do from here is gather a list of email addresses he has used and ip’s he has posted from.

Write a nice detailed list of his activities including these ip’s, email addresses, and posting times.

Next use the link below to lookup the owner of the ip’s he is using.

http://www.arin.net/whois/

For every ip you will find the following.

OrgAbuseHandle:
OrgAbuseName:
OrgAbusePhone:
OrgAbuseEmail:

This is where you report his abuse by either phone or email (I usually email). Most of the time you will not hear back from them but many times the attack will suddenly stop. Wink

Do the exact same thing with every email address he has registered with.

This will slowly eliminate his options for getting to your forum. If you find after complaining that he is using the same isp email them again.

You can also block what email address people register from some forums block registration from any free email providers. This forces all members to use their isp email address to register making it very easy to track who the culprate is.
