I logged into the board I visit this afternoon and was surfing around when all of a sudden I was hearing a TV ad. After carefully checking all of my open browser windows, I determined that the forum board was the culprit... Or rather, an ad banner at the bottom of the page. The banner was direct linking to a TVOffers website and was on constant replay apparantly, as it continued to transfer from the site. I frequently surf the internet late at night... should I have to turn my sound off just to visit a webboard? Even stopping in in the evening when it's just me in the house, that was exceptionally annoying. On our board we also have several members on dial-up and an audio transfer can lock-up their systems.
I understand the need to fund the project... but audio advertising is going too far. As stated in another thread, the Google ads are at least relevant and non-invasive (and I have clicked on a few of them). I detest pop-ups with a passion... but with them you still have the option to not click in them and close them out (or even better, block them entirely!). An audio stream automatically opening and playing on my computer is both intrusive and offensive in the extreme.
Is it possible to remove audio advertising from the site?

I use an ad network for the bottom banners so I do not hand choose them. I will however complain to the ad network. Do you happen to know what website the ad was for? Which board is yours?
