I was told, a while ago, that there was going to be some modernisation and upgrading of the board capabilities. Other boards offer far better features these days and the standard here seems to be falling behind. I see that Black Panther no longer bothers and that even admin's presence here is somewhat sporadic, but I'd be grateful for an update on this please.

i don't think they bother with it now as i don't get replies either plus with all the nasty postings in off topic which never get removed i am beginning to think it was a major mistake opening a forum with this host

You might be right. Things have hit a terminal decline by the looks of it. I guess we'll be stuffed if they just stop paying the server bill without notice?
Time to buy the database asap maybe. |

| I'm similarly worried Al. I've not had a response to my concerns about these spurious signatures appearing on members' profiles without their knowledge. |

| Buying the database might be an option if you could get anyone to respond to a post of course. I've even sent private messages to Admin but without response. |

Irene you have regretted your decision from your very first post, please move on....
To the rest of you, there is no need to worry, I am just very busy. Sorry for the lack of responses here. 
I really hoped that this forum would run itself for the most part, IE members helping each other out on the issues they have control over.
I will be upgrading the phpbb boards to phpbb3, however there is currently no mass converter, I am waiting for this to happen otherwise all current boards will have to start over.
Again I apologize for the lack of response here.

 What additional features will we be seeing, and can you give us a time frame please?
I worry that 'my' board will be left high and dry, and we might lose everything - hope you understand the situation? I have to think of the members who have come to rely on the board.. can you absolutely guarantee that there won't be a disruption of service that could see us lose everything?

| As far as i know, the Admin has a backup that is usually a few days behind (like one or two). So if anything bad happens he's going to restore everything. You'd only have lost a few posts. |

I cant guarantee anything, but I have no plans to leave you high and dry. You can see a default install of phpbb3 at http://www.opensourcecms.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=143. You can expect it to be very similar. Click on the front page and admin links to see.

Let me just add my two cents here -- admin, I am perfectly happy with phpbb 2. Everything works fine for my board, now I understand others want other features,t hat's fine. But if my option is to get phpbb 3 and possibly lose my board, or keep it the way it is -- please keep mine the way it is!

Hmmm, interesting comment!! It appears our admin's "plans" have indeed changed. I suppose we should all have seen this coming with this thread. I wonder what hapened to Irene and Al and the others?
I found this thread when trying to see how to order a backup. Can someone tell me the process or what is involved? I can not find anything here easily anymore, not to mention I am frustrated as well.
Al, if you are still here reading anything anymore, what other fre forums do you know of that offer better features than you here that you posted about? I would appreciate your help-thanks!
