Please someone tell me what the point in posts like this is? I've seen similar ones on both this forum, and on other ones (including mine).

1) This message looks automated, as it makes no sense to list this site's domain name and forum section in the post. I dont' believe a genuine person would do that.
2) The www of this member is google.com so obviously it's not to get members to their site.
3) They have an ICQ which I consider unlikely for somebody that's only been on the Internet 3 days. Does advertising an ICQ help anybody? I've noticed that it's common for spambots to supply ICQ addresses, whereas 99% of legitimate members don't.
4) The most obvious one. This post is completely pointless! There is not much "necessary information" on this forum. There is very little information at all in fact. Especially in the off topic section!

This place has been attacked by a random spammer or spammers for a few weeks now. Every freaking day another idiot signs up on my board -- it's probably the same group.

Losers.

I really don't understand how this forum gets so much spam. My own phpbb board never gets any (some bogus sign ups with weird sites, but that's mostly it).

But, something tells me OP won't be around again.

Well I suppose at least posts of this nature are fairly harmless, as they don't contain links to porn sites or similarly non-desirable locations. But I just don't see the point in them.

With spam usually the spammer is trying to draw people to their site. But this particular post has not listed any websites in the message (presumably due to the fact new members cannot posts links on this board any more), and the website it has for it's profile is google.com. So what is the spammer trying to acheive here?

I don't think the bot realizes the mod installed automaticaly removes the link from his/hers post.
