|
|
|
Due to the unexpected hard drive issues two weeks ago, there is a need to generate additional revenue to help with the expense of running the service.
As a solution I am planning on implementing in-text ads for all users, they currently only show for guests. These additional ads will only be in place until September 30th.
MFBB is committed to keeping this service free and the ads as unobtrusive as possible. I apologize for the temporary inconvenience. _________________ Please use the search function. |

| Thanks, I was hoping we didn't have to put up with those things continuously. Quite annoying. But we understand. |

| And it's not just for guests on my site. We only have members, and I certainly am one, but I can see them. |

That is correct, everyone can see them. Sorry, it won't be for long. _________________ Please use the search function. |

Should we expect any deterioration to forum speeds with the new adverts?
Performance has been a bit slower over the past 24 hours or so |

| Our board understands why you have to do it too, but there is a loss in performance and speed. Can that be resolved? At least its only temporary. |

The add script is not run until the very end of the page. The page may take longer to load, but there should be no slowdown in the ability to see anything except for the ads themselves. _________________ Please use the search function. |

| Nah, it takes an age. When you click the 'review' button for instance, nothing happens for 2-3 seconds. Loading all pages takes a lot longer. I have to say, people didn't mind so much the orange links, but the reduced speed is something they're not best chuffed with. |

I can second that
I have a large number of disgruntled members - who are thinking of spending less time on the forum until the end of September
This must affect the amount of income you could hope to raise from the scheme |

They are loading just fine for me. It is not the ads, or the server. Do a tracert for me and post the results here.
To do this go to Start > Run. Type CMD. Click ok. Type tracert mfbb.net _________________ Please use the search function. |

Ok, done that. How would you like the info? I have saved it as a screen grab.
The board is so slow that the numbers posting are probably 50-75% down. Pages are taking 2-4+ seconds to load. Some people who didn't know of your decison to place the ads have been asking whats doing on.
Cheers. |

I have a ticket into the server facility. The problem appears to be with the network. _________________ Please use the search function. |
